
Hallelujah! Hitch really sticks it to Mitt Romney in this Slate post. Reading Mitt’s bathetic appeal to Christian fundamentalists to stay the course with him, and comparing it to JFK’s 1960 address, one cannot help but be reminded of Lloyd Bentsen’s devastating riposte to Dan Quayle.

Right, Nuts — Romney is no Jack Kennedy:
So far as we know, he’s not a skirt-chaser like his brother The Swimmer and father Joe Nazi-Sympathizer. He won’t be caught up in the Kennedy groupthink that created the Bay of Pigs fiasco. He would only be a damn good President, equal to the tasks of today.
